Zackie Mathews,85, from Rotonda Florida, passed away the morning of December 17, 2022. Zackie was born on December 13, 1937 to Jack Hammonds and Muriel Baily Hammonds in Clay County, Texas. After Zackie graduated from Midway High School In 1956, she went on to study Business at Lamar Business School. In 1957, Zackie met Eddie Mathews at their shared place of employment. Zackie and Eddie went on to have 3 children, Tammy, Sam and Carol. Zackie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eddie Mathews Jr. , 3 children, 6 Grand Children and 19 Great Grand Children. In High School, Zackie played center in Basketball and continued to watch the sport all of her life. Her major accomplishment in life was her family of which she spent her time raising. Later in her life she loved to spend time on Facebook trying to keep up with what her children, Grand Children and Great Grandchildren were doing. Services will be held from 5pm-7pm on Wednesday December 21st at: Englewood Community Funeral Home 3070 South McCall Road Englewood, Fl 34224 941-475-9800
