Raymond “Bud” Bates, 79, of Englewood, FL passed away on September 16, 2023. He was born on December 23, 1943 in Corning, NY to Ivan and Mildred (Lyons) Bates. Bud served in the US Army and was a member of the Englewood VFW 10178. He worked for Corning Inc. as a mold mechanic for many years before retiring. Bud enjoyed playing golf and fishing with his brother at the lake during the summer. A resident of Englewood, FL for 23 years. He is survived by his devoted wife: Kathleen Bates; brother: Harold (Lisa) Bates of Coopers Plains, NY; mother-in-law: Madeline Welty of Painted Post, NY; daughter-in-law: DeDra Bates of Englewood, FL; grandchildren: Madison and William Bates of Englewood, FL; two nephews: Steve (Cindy) Hand and Chris (Ann) Hand; four nieces: Dellie Rogers, Debbie Brown, Gina King and Kristi Nettles and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Chad Bates, sister: Lila Hand (Dallas Hand) and a brother: Larry Bates (Emily Bates). A Celebration of Life will be held at Englewood VFW 10178 on October 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
