Leona Maiuri
September 21st, 1928 - May 25th, 2017
Leona Maiuri 09/21/28 – 05/25/17 She was loved by all who knew her. Leona was born in 1928 in Sedro Woolley, Washington. Leona met her future husband Ken on Christmas day while visiting her sister and husband who was Ken’s brother. Leona married Kenneth Maiuri on November 6th, 1948. Together they began a life dedicated to their family, creative endeavors and adventures of travel. Leona shared her joy of cooking with her family, and what a cook! She created the most scrumptious meals. When Leona wasn’t planning meals or cooking them she spent hours sewing or knitting sweaters, afghans, including many beautiful crocheted Christmas pieces. She enjoyed gardening, camping, volleyball, walking, swimming and traveling abroad providing opportunities for tales that lasted until her final days. Leona is remembered by her loving family and friends as an inspiration of God’s love and care in her mothering and nurturing of family and others. Leona and Ken are role models for how marriage can be successful. Leona is loved and will be greatly missed. She is with our wonderful Savior in heaven restored and transformed. Hallelujah! Leona is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Maiuri of nearly 69 years and children, Ken Maiuri Jr. (Joyce), Mike Maiuri (Suzie), Chuck Maiuri (Janice), Bob Maiuri, Cindy Bush (Devin), seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Memorial for Leona will be held later this summer. Family will be notified. Please send donations to St Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org/) in lieu of flowers.
