Robert Paul Whitaker

Dr. Robert P. Whitaker passed on to be with Jesus surrounded by his family November 5, 2017. He was born in Whittier, CA in 1923. He served in the Army Veterinary Corp from 1943-46. His regard for animals led him to graduate from Washington State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1954. Bob loved his profession and spent 28 years in his practice, Clover Park Veterinary Hospital, in Lakewood, WA. Bob met and married the love of his life, Jean, while at WSU. They were married for 68 wonderful years. He served as a team player within his community and profession with various organizations including the Methodist Church of Lakewood, Lions Club, Clover Park School Board, and the American Veterinary Association. Bob loved to excel in whatever he did and was an avid runner, hiker, and biker. He shared a love for travel with Jean and they took many wonderful trips in their retirement years and for 20 years they loved spending winters in Tucson, AZ. Every fall Bob faithfully cheered on his favorite football team the WSU Cougars. He is survived by his wife, Jean, his daughters Mary Kay, and Lynn, and his son Steve, six grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Bob’s honor at 11:00 AM November 10, 2017 at Mission Woods Presbyterian Church, 2003 Taylor Street, Edgewood, WA.
