Judy Sharon King

Judy Sharon King, 72, passed away on December 23, 2023, in Venice, FL. She was born on May 29, 1951, in Louisville, KY to Preston and Lorraine (Byrd) Stone. Sharon was a gifted singer. Known as “Miss Country Sunshine,” she was a budding country music recording artist and performed regularly at local venues in the Chicago area during her late teen/early 20s. In 1974, she rededicated her life to the Lord and stepped away from the music business. Over the years, Sharon continued to sing in church, using her gifts for the Lord. On December 29, 1979, Sharon married her husband Robert E. King. They lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Lexington, Kentucky, and spent many years as “snowbirds” spending their winter months in Florida. They relocated to North Port permanently in 2010 and joined Gulf Coast Assembly of God in 2022. Sharon loved beautiful things. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed sewing a variety of items. She also enjoyed painting with watercolors and acrylics. She spent many hours in her craft room and would usually listen to her favorite gospel and worship songs while working on her many projects. Sharon will be remembered most as a loving, beautiful woman of God who prayed daily for her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert E. King; children Linda King, Donna O’Connell, Kathy Turkovich, Tara Fujita (Kawika), and Robert King, Jr. (April); 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; her mother, Lorraine Svidron, and siblings Vickie Ramirez, Deborah Carney, and Dane Stone (Laura); and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Sharon is predeceased by her father, Preston Stone, and her brother Pat Stone. Two memorial services will be held as a celebration of Sharon’s life. The first will be on January 10, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Gulf Coast Assembly of God in North Port, Florida and the second will be on January 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Grace Assembly of God in Whiteland, IN.
