Grover Kent Anderson was born in 1943 in Seattle, Washington. He grew up in the Queen Anne neighborhood, attending North Queen Anne Grade School and graduating from Queen Anne High School. He later attended Yakima Valley Community College and Washington State University. In 1971 he married Adele, and together they bought a home close to where he grew up. They spent most of their 47 joy-filled years of marriage on the north side of Queen Anne, raising their three children, Taylor Pinkham (Joe), Regan Dahlstrom (Ted), and Braden Anderson (Amber). Grover, a master of the barbecue, loved jazz music; trips to the Conway Pub for oysters; family vacations to Manzanita, OR and Seabrook, WA. He also eagerly anticipated the many annual family holiday celebrations held at his home in the Renton Highlands surrounded by his three children and six grandchildren (Brianna, Blake, Ellis, Collier, Manning and Bennett), ranging in age from 22 to 2. His brother, Gary, and sister, Corrine Graebner (Alden), were also close to his heart along with the life-long friends he made as a proud resident of Seattle and Renton. A lifelong sports fan, his family was the only thing more important to him than the Seattle Mariners and Gonzaga Bulldogs. He even recorded Mariners games (that they won) to watch during the long off-season. His faith in the Mariners was unwavering, and he was fortunate enough to enjoy the team’s 41st opening day on television just a few days before his passing. He was certain that this was the year the team would end its long playoff drought. A voracious reader, he had an amazing memory for dates and detail. As a part of his morning ritual, he eagerly devoured the Seattle Times with his coffee, retained nearly every detail, and even saved articles related to animals to share with his grandsons. Always kind, gentle, and generous, he loved meeting new people. We will carry his spirit with us always. A Celebration of Life for Grover will be held on Sunday, April, 15 from 1-4 p.m. at the Magnolia United Church of Christ (Pilgrim Hall), 3555 West McGraw Street, Seattle, WA 98199. Entrance to Pilgrim Hall is off Eastmont Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Queen Anne High School Alumni Scholarship Program.
