Mark Anthony Cooter
January 24th, 1956 - August 14th, 2016
Mark Anthony Cooter, age 60, of Church Hill, went home to be with Jesus and his dad on Sunday, August 14, 2016 unexpectedly at his home. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force having served in Hawaii. Mark was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Fellowship Ministries Baptist Church, but had recently been attending New Life Baptist Church. He was a retiree of Eastman with 33+ years of service. He loved spending time riding his Harley Davidson with his biker family and friends. He was a loving husband, son, brother, father, papaw and uncle. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed by all who love him. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold "Joe" Cooter; father-in-law, Lucian "Ted" Hass; grandparents, Thomas and Cora Ramey, Tolbert Cooter and Carrie Bible, Dana and Betsy Charlton, and Arthur and Maxie Hass; sister-in-law, Ruby Statzer Hass; aunts, Jean Phillips, Faye McLain, Carol Charlton, Claire Dodge and Eileen Davis; uncles, Kenneth Charlton, Ted Cooter (Beulah), Rex Cooter (Pauline) and Coy Brown; and many cousins. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Brenda Hass Cooter; son, Joe Cooter (Amanda); granddaughter, Chloe Grace Cooter; mother, Julia Cooter; sister, Debra Cooter Hanmer (Rob) and Betsy Cooter Linkous; brother, Robert Lee Cooter; mother-in-law, Lovely Lucille Ramey Hass; sisters-in-law, Barbara Jeffers (Vic), Thelma Falin (Jerry), Mary Jeffers (Brad) and Peggy Hammonds (Alan); brothers-in-law, Wincer Hass, Billy Joe Hass (Judy) and Glen Lee Hass (Rhonda); 2 uncles, Bob Phillips and Bill Charlton; aunts, Freida Bailey and Wanell Brown; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and cousins; goddaughters, Maryssa Fauver (Matt) and Breanna Kinkead; godsons, Darren Hicks, Cole Jeffers (Emilee), Caleb Jeffers, Cody Jeffers, Allen Ayer and Ryan Ayer; and a host of biker friends and family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Rocky Churchwell and Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. A military graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Cox Church Cemetery in Duffield, VA. All those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:45 am on Monday. Those who would like to bring their motorcycle to lead the procession are more than welcome to. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or Wellmont Oncology.
