Dallas Wayne Johnson
August 3rd, 1934 - July 18th, 2016
Dallas Wayne Johnson, 82, died July 18, 2016 at his home in Church Hill, TN, following a brief illness. Mr. Johnson was born August 3, 1933 in Kingsport, TN, to the late M. H. (Bill) & Frances Johnson. Entering the Air Force in 1950 and serving for four years, Mr. Johnson then joined the United States Army, where he retired in 1970. Following his service to our country during the Korean and Vietnam War, Mr. Johnson served The Division of Capitol Police for the Commonwealth of Virginia, where he retired after 20 years of service. Dallas was preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife of 28 years, Mildred S. Johnson, daughter Diane Clements, granddaughters Lisa Marie and Amy Elizabeth Clements, and his sisters, Ruby Sampson and Lucille Hudson. Mr. Johnson was also preceded in death by long-time companion, Eva Spears of Church Hill, TN. Mr. Johnson is survived by his children, Mark W. Johnson of Fredricksburg, VA, and Stephen B. Johnson of Varina, VA; Kimberly D. Council of Normandy, TN, Shirley Jacques of Spring Hill, FL, Gloria Conway of Petersburg, VA, Michael Crocker of Chester, VA and Traci Spears of Nashville, TN. Also left to cherish Dallas' memory are his brother, Jimmy W. Johnson and wife Reba; and sister, Sharon Crotty and husband Jack; as well as numerous grand-children, great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, extended family members and loving friends. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016, from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill, Tennessee. A memorial service will begin at 7:00 pm in the chapel. Following his memorial service, his remains will be transferred to J.T. Morris & Sons Funeral Home in Petersburg, Virginia where a graveside service will be held at Southlawn Cemetery on Saturday, July 23 at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to your favorite charity as a way to honor Dallas' memory. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.cartertrent.com.
