Jerry A. Reed

Jerry Allen Earl Reed, Sr. "Rawhide", 77, of Kingsport, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Holston Valley Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Reed was a 1958 graduate of Sullivan High School. He was on active duty in the United Sates Army for six years and spent 27 years in the Army reserve and National Guard for a total of 33 years of service. He retired as an EMT/ Fire Fighter from Eastman Chemical Company in 1998 after 32 years of service. Mr. Reed received an associate's degree in Science Management from Steed College in May 1976. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Analee Reed; infant brother, Ronald Reed; young brother, Kenneth Reed; step-mother, Barbara Reed; brother-in-law, Weldon Ford. Left to Cherish his memory is his loving wife of 57 years, Billie Jean Reed; son, Jerry Reed Jr. and wife Stephanie; the light of his life his granddaughter, Emma Marie Reed; a special daughter, Brittany Menchaca and husband Mark; special granddaughter, Anna Lee Menchaca; sister, Gwen Ford; brothers, J.D. and wife Linda Reed, Dallas Reed and wife Linda. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the funeral home chapel. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Cole, family, and friends. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the Reed family.
