Charles Cecil Matlock
November 15th, 1942 - May 14th, 2016
Charles Cecil Matlock, 73, of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday (May 14, 2016) at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Scott County, Virginia and had lived in this area his entire life. Charles attended Rye Cove High School. He retired from Holston Glass as Senior Vice President with over 50 years of service. Mr. Matlock attended Lynn Garden Evagelical Methodist Church. His favorite pastimes were hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hughie and Bessie Cox Matlock; a sister, Frances Ervin and her husband, Bob. Charles Matlock is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Wanda Sue Garland Matlock; daughter, Sheila Ann Matlock; a son, Michael Matlock; grandchildren, Vicky Griffith and husband, Jarod, Hunter Matlock, and Alexander Matlock; great grandchildren, Blaine and Charlie; a sister, Patsy Winegar and husband, Wayne along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (May 17, 2016) from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday (May 17, 2016) at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley, Evangelist Pat Hammond, and Brother Bill Lane, officiating. Music will be provided by Kenneth Davis and Bill Lane. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday (May 18, 2016) at 1 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery with Eric Jones, Lawrence Carter, Wayne Winegar, Ricky Ervin, Bruce Ratliff, and Mike Johnson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his former co-workers of Holston Glass. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Matlock family.
