August 19th, 1923 - August 11th, 2015
Eleanore W. Stratton of Bradenton, FL died peacefully in her sleep August 11, 2015. Family was with her. She was lovingly cared for by the Staff of Life Care Center of Sarasota where she resided since May 2014. Born August 19, 1923 in Scranton, PA, daughter of Mabel and Roland Reed Whitney, she moved to Kennett Square, PA and married Louis J. Cocciolone following WWII. She had four children, Diana Louise Cocciolone, Louis Whitney Cocciolone, Fredrick Haskin Cocciolone and Stefan Robert Cocciolone. She was a full time mother and later a successful banker advancing from receptionist to branch manager in Kennett Square and Exton, PA. She moved to Bradenton with second husband William B. Stratton in 1998 and served as a realtor until her retirement. Ellie will be remembered as a skilled bridge player, an environmental activist, a teacher of English as a second language, an artist and great grandmother GG. She is pre-deceased by son, Fredrick and husbands, Louis and Bill. She is survived by her only sister, Louise Christenson of Seattle, WA, sons Louis Cocciolone and Stefan Cocciolone, daughter Diana Whitney, grandchildren Brian Kaplin, Shara Kaplin, Stefani Cocciolone, Joel Cocciolone, Jessica Cocciolone, Gabe Cocciolone, Diana Cocciolone, Josh Carr and great grandchildren Meadowe Gross, Reagan Gross, Ellee Thomas, Madalynn Burrous, Vincent Tadei and Todd Carr. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Episcopal Church of the Annunciation, 4408 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach, FL 34217. A reception will follow. The family asks that memorial donations be sent in to Manatee Reads, 1701 Tamiami Trail, Suite 5, Bradenton, FL 34205. admin@manatee-literacy.org
