Claude Roger "C.R." Keith, Sr., age 88, of Gate City, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having proudly served his country during World War II. C.R. was an active member of the Scott County community having served by establishing the Keith Park and Senior Citizens Building in Nickelsville, VA, developed the Weber City Community Center in Weber City, VA, with a strong belief in education he granted scholarships for the past 10 years to the 3 local high school's students and assisted in the rebuilding and maintaining of local family cemeteries throughout Scott County. He was also a proud member of the Gate City Presbyterian Church where he gladly donated the steeple for the church building. He was truly a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, sharing his blessings while he was living. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Juanita Elswick Keith; son, William "Bill" Keith; parents, Elbert and Dora (Stallard) Keith; brothers, Baker, Mark, Garland, Earl and Emory B. Keith; sisters, Anna Ruth Osborne, Hazel Keith Moore and Pauline Wood. He is survived by his sons, Claude Roger Keith, Jr. (Cynthia) of Albuquerque, NM, Robert L. Keith (Lisabeth) of Vero Beach, FL, and Thomas V. Keith (Barbara) of Lebanon, TN; grandchildren, Charlayne Keith, Brianna Keith, Danee Keith, Alexis Karlson, Adrienne Willis, Donovan Keith, Jonathan Keith, Hannah Keith, Samantha Keith and Xinlan Keith; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Lucian, Lenka and Cooper; step grandchildren, Amber and Braden; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and members of the Nickelsville Senior Citizens. The family would like to thank the following special caregivers, Becky Parker, Barbara Hubbard, Joanne Grizzle and Phyllis Williams; and special friend, Lola Dean; for their loving care and support for their father during this time. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Wayne Hedrick officiating. Military Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 presiding.
