Jane Adair Wallace

JANE ADAIR WALLACE was born at Willow City, North Dakota. She attended high school at Williston Senior High School and graduated in 1942. Jane attended the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, North Dakota, and was a member of the Pi Phi sorority there. She married Donald E. Wallace, USN on 30 June 1945 and they made their home in Williston where Don worked for the Great Northern Railway and they raised four children. She lived in Williston until June 1969 when Don was transferred to Wenatchee, Washington. Jane lived in Wenatchee for several years before moving to retirement living in Puyallup, Washington, currently residing at Silver Creek Assisted Living in Puyallup. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, sewing, handiwork, and gardening. Her greatest joys were her family, community, and church all the while serving others. She taught Sunday School for many years at First Lutheran Church in Williston, North Dakota. She was an active organizer for Blue Birds, Campfire Girls, and took an active part in her son’s Boy Scout ceremonies. She was a member of PEO in both Williston and Wenatchee. She served as President for both Chapters. She was a lifelong member of the Pi Phi Sorority and was an active member for over 75 years. Jane is survived by her husband, Don; her son Steve and his wife Cindy and four grandchildren; Bill Wallace and his wife Susan and two grandchildren; Nancy Slater and her husband Doran and 3 grandchildren; and Ann Carmichael and her husband Bob and 3 grandchildren. She has several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jane is preceded in death by her parents and sister Beverly. Jane will be remembered in a funeral ceremony at 1000 on January 11, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wenatchee, Washington. One of her granddaughters said “She was an amazing woman. She had a heart of GOLD. She loved everyone and treated them as if they were family. She lived, she loved, she laughed. She was a genuine lady. Simply a beautiful woman inside and out.” One of her favorite sayings was “This too shall pass.” Another of her granddaughters said “My Grandma Jane was pure kindness, love, and generosity. She had an intuition like none other, and a way of making people feel so seen in her presence, you could honestly sit and talk with her for hours. I would love to listen to her stories and wisdom and watch her cook and bake without ever looking at a recipe. I will miss her fiercely, but most importantly, I will remember what she taught me. That this too shall pass and to live and love for today.”
