Elinor L. Powers Kline
August 29th, 1921 - May 2nd, 2010
Elinor was born August 29th, 1921 in Los Angeles, CA and passed away May 2nd, 2010 in Puyallup, WA. She was preceded in death by husbands Russell Tucker, Pierce W. Powers, and Robert Kline Sr.; her son David Tucker; and one granddaughter. She is survived by her daughter Donna (Wilber) Bell, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Elinor graduated from Bell High School in 1940, then met and married her first husband, Russell Tucker. They later moved to the Puyallup area where they raised their two children, Donna and David. Along with raising her children, Elinor also worked at Rhoades Department store, Wentworth’s Jewelers, and Powers Funeral Home. In 1966 she married Pierce W. Powers. Working together at Powers Funeral Home, they spent many years assisting local families with their own personal losses. During these years her kindness, compassion, and warm smiles were cherished by many. In 1998 Elinor married Robert Kline Sr., who was her dancing partner and loving husband until his passing last September in 2009. With each marriage, she acquired more children and extended family to celebrate, entertain and create new memories with. Elinor was a long-time parishioner at All Saints Church as well as an active member at both the Eagles and Elks clubs. She enjoyed music, dancing, telling jokes, entertaining, and gardening on her deck. She was the perpetual hostess, telling jokes while keeping your glass full and offering anything she could to make sure you felt welcome and attended to. Elinor’s compassion knew no bounds. She was a constant supporter of those who were less fortunate and she gave generously to organizations and individuals in need of support. She was lucky in life, but never took her luck for granted and was always willing to share it with others. Her sparkling blue eyes, smiles and laughter will be missed by all. In Elinor’s memory, donations may be made to the Francis House, 322 7th St. S.E. Puyallup WA. 98372 or any charity of your choice. Viewing will be held on Saturday May 8, 2-4 p.m. at Curnow Funeral Home, 1410 Main St. Sumner. A funeral mass will be held on Monday May 10, 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 204 6th Ave. S.W. Puyallup. Interment will follow at Sumner Cemetery. Please sign the online guest book at www.curnowfuneralhome.com Arrangements by Curnow Funeral Home & Cremation Service. 253-863-2800.
