Herbert Eric Martenson of Bradenton passed away on March 7, 2016. He was 90 years old. Herb was born in Brooklyn, N Y, the only child of Otto and Thyra Martenson. He is survived by his devoted wife, Virginia Martenson, and three children: Denise (Norman) Ginsberg of Highland Park, IL, Teri-Shannon (Frank) Cassara of Spring Hill, FL and Michael (Kathleen) Martenson of Athens, GA and his daughter-in-law, Katherine Martenson, of Spring Hill. Herb had 9 grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-children: William Seipel (Karen) of Greenville, TX and family, and Clare Seipel of El Dorado, KS, and family. Herb was a World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific with the United States Navy. He was a graduate of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA., with an Industrial Engineering Degree. Herb finalized his career with Southern Airlines in Columbia, S. C., retired to Florida and was active in his community by volunteering on several committees at Freedom Village, Bradenton FL. He and Virginia were avid bridge players and enjoyed playing cards with their friends. A Memorial Service will be held on April 2nd at Freedom Village at 11:00 A.M., with reception to follow. The Reverend Sung Lee will be presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Memorial Scholarship Program of Freedom Village.”
