James "Jimmy" Hood

Church Hill - James "Jimmy" Hood, 70 of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a long illness. Born in Scott County, VA, James had lived in Church Hill for the past 30 years. He was retired from Holliston Mills and enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to flea markets. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lillie Adams Hood. James is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon Allen Hood of the home; sisters, Agnes Kay Barnett and Gwen Bledsoe; brother, Eugene Hood and wife Beverly; mother-in-law, Christine Allen; sister-in-law, Alice Smith and husband Eddie; brothers-in-law, Robert Allen and wife Sherry and Rick Allen and wife Sherri; several nieces and nephews; 3 special children, Krissy, Katelynn and Hunter. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jon Rogers and Pastor Eddie Smith officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 12 noon on Wednesday at Millers Chapel Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 11:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Hood family.
