Johnny Alex Horne

Johnny Alex Horne, 26, of Longboat Key, Florida, was born June 1, 1990 and passed away much too soon on Friday, June 10, 2016. He is survived by his parents, Neal and Jennifer Horne; two brothers, Clark and Preston; one sister, Emma; and grandparents, Ron and Doris Burns and Neal and Carol Horne. Johnny attended Saint Joseph's Catholic School and Cardinal Mooney High School where he had many friends and was an accomplished athlete on the Cougar's swim team. He worked at Harry's on Longboat Key during his high school years. Johnny received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in the Biological Sciences from FSU, where he belonged to the PHI GAMMA DELTA "FIJI" fraternity and was a trapeze artist in FSU's Flying High Circus. Johnny loved helping others, and he used his academic knowledge while working with the organization Grow4Vets to provide free alternative medications to veterans suffering from PTSD or other debilitating conditions. In addition to being an extraordinary son, brother and friend to so many, Johnny's beautiful smile and tender spirit never let anyone feel like a stranger. We will remember his love for nature, snowboarding, surfing, hiking, camping, hot sauce, and craft beer. He will be missed dearly by so many, but our memories and love for him will never fade. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 1:00 pm at Church of the Cross, 5051 26th Street West, Bradenton, Florida.
