Charles "Chuck" J. Martin, 90, of Bradenton, Florida passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. He was born in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania on Sunday, July 4, 1926 to Frank and Margaret Martin. In 1956, he moved to Bradenton, Florida and began working for Superior Sheet Metal. He went on to own Martin Sheet Metal & Roofing from 1978-1991. Chuck loved softball, bowling, hunting, and fishing. He volunteered with the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary for 42 years. He also volunteered with the Red Cross teaching First Aid and with Boy Scouts of America serving as a Troop Leader. He was a member of North United Methodist Church in Sarasota for over 50 years and has been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bradenton for the last 4 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Margaret Martin and his brother John “Son” Martin. He is survived by his wife Garnet; his son Jay; his sister-in-law Jean Konecy Swihart; his nieces & nephews from the Martin-side of the family Larry, Donna, Darlene, and their families; and his nieces & nephews from the Konecy-side of the family Bill, Cindy, Gary, Daryl, and their families. A memorial service will be held on August 27, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 3200 Manatee Ave. W. in Bradenton. We would like to thank TideWell Hospice of Bradenton for the wonderful care they provided Chuck and our family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to TideWell Hospice of Bradenton or Trinity United Methodist Church of Bradenton.
