Jeanie M. Taylor Jeanie Meikle Taylor (n e Smith) died peacefully on July 3, 2010 in Issaquah. Jeanie was born in Alyth, Scotland, on July 22, 1920. She came to America through Ellis Island with her parents and her sister Betty when she was six months old. She lived in Yakima, Washington, graduating from Yakima High School in 1939. As a young homemaker, Jean volunteered for the Yakima Women's Club, canning fruits and vegetables for the less fortunate. She was also an active member of the Yakima Presbyterian church. Jean moved to Beaverton in 1950, where she active with her children in Camp Fire and Cub Scout organizations. She later was active with the Beaverton Masonic Orders of Eastern Star, Job's Daughters and DeMolay. After a brief time in Seattle, Jeanie and her late husband Bob, to whom she was married for 52 years, settled in Puyallup where they lived for more than 30 years. Jeanie was active in the Pierce County Beekeepers Association and a member of the Sumner Presbyterian Church. Jeanie took great pride in her flowers, gardening and homemaking skills, and was known for her baking powder biscuits and apple pies. During her final three years, Jeanie lived in Issaquah near her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband Bob and her sister Betty, and is survived by her three children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Graveside service is Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 1:00pm at Tahoma Cemetery, Yakima, Washington.
