Peggy Laney Reed

Peggy Anita Laney Reed, 64 of Kingsport passed away late Tuesday evening (June 23, 2015) at her residence. She was born on June 3, 1951, the baby of ten children born to the late Marion Stonewall "Stoney" and the late Ora Ethel Stapleton Laney, in the Ft. Blackmore area of Scott County, Virginia. Peggy was a caring, giving, loving homemaker and was very much a part of the close-knit Laney "clan" who loved keeping mountain traditions alive. She will be sorely missed and will remain in our hearts forever. She always gave good advice and guidance to all she loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a beautiful six year old son, Preston Bledsoe in 1976; five sisters, Margaret Imogene Moore, Redith Alvonia Powers, Mary Etta Moore, Ines Hannah Isaacs and Linda Lou Thornton and her brother, Jimmy Dale Laney. This beautiful lady is survived by her brothers, Buren Efford Laney of Kingsport and Johnny Edwin Laney of Lebanon, VA; her sister, Carletta "Carlie" Laney Sims of Kingsport; an adopted sibling Ricky Lynn Laney of Kingsport; special nephews, J.T., Jonathan and Robert Sims; along with several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the Reed family.
