Charles "Charlie" Arthur Bombard

Graham, Wa. - Charles Bombard passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 23, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Black Brook, New York on October 28, 1929. Charles was the eldest child of Halsey and Elizabeth Bombard. Charles is survived by 3 of his 6 siblings, Joan Ahrent, Al Bombard and Linda Singleton-Bombard. He graduated at Holy Name Catholic School and entered the U. S. Air Force in 1950. Charles married Florence Dennett in 1952 and remained husband and wife for 63 years until the passing of Florence in February 15, 2015. Charles and Florence are survived by 5 children; Alvia (Virgil) Cabico, Jennifer Dreller, Scott (Sheree) Bombard, Susan Johnson (dec.) Michele (Loren) Hale, and Sara (Tom) Bowles. Charles and Florence are also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Charles retired from the Air Force in 1970 after 22 years of service. He started his own business with a partner and called it Tacoma Airways. He enjoyed working on airplanes and teaching people about aerodynamics, etc. Charles enjoyed a good cup of black coffee and to go fishing/hunting. His favorite fishing spot was Nimpo Lake in British Columbia. He would fly over and enjoy relaxing with friends and telling each other fish tales. He loved visiting with old friends and watching any movie starring John Wayne. You cannot leave out Johnny Cash as he was definitely his go to music to dance a jig. He enjoyed membership at the VFW and occasionally he and Florence would go shake a leg for a nice evening out with friends. He would go out to Pizza Hut often as that was his favorite place to go for pizza. Charles had a good eye for trap shooting and enjoyed going out practicing. He also liked hunting and getting out into the wilderness to enjoy nature. Charles loved working on restoring his antique car. He had many activities that he was involved in and kept pretty busy. He would say if you can find a hobby that you thoroughly enjoy doing and you can get paid for doing it, then you are doing well. His work ethic stayed steady through his entire life. He never hesitated to help out a friend and give a helping hand if they needed it. He was a humble man and a man that enjoyed life and all that life has to give. He and Florence would become snow birds later in life and travel to Arizona to bask in the warm sun as we in Washington got drenched. He loved to travel and explore different places. We will all miss Charlie (some called him) and we were fortunate to have known him. He certainly left us with plenty of memories and a desire to meet up with him again. I think the world is a better place for him having been in it.
