Peggy Jane Murray
January 3rd, 1938 - February 11th, 2022
Peggy Jane Murray passed away on Friday, February 11, while in hospice care at her Parrish home. Peggy was preceded in death by her father Walter Nunn, her mother, Helen (Fagan) Nunn, and her brother, Walter Nunn. She is survived by Mike, her husband of 62 years, her daughters Susan Hogan, Nancy Murray, and Deborah Costello, and her son Michael Murray and wife Jessie, as well as 10 grandchildren and her sister Anne Shannon (Bill). Peggy was a graduate of Bishop McDonnell H.S. in Brooklyn and of the Bellevue School of Nursing in Manhattan. She worked for many years as an emergency room nurse in both New York and California and, prior to retirement, as a hospital auditor for Blue Cross and later as an administrator at UC San Francisco Medical Center. After retiring to Florida in 2006, Peggy continued to care for others as a Tidewell Hospice volunteer. She loved ballet, sailing, dogs, and good books and music, but nothing as much as spending time with her family and friends. A requiem mass celebrating Peggy’s life will be held at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Roman Catholic Church in Parrish on Friday, March 25, at 10:00 a.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Tidewell Foundation in Sarasota.
