Dr. Jesus A. Bianco born on February 8, 1940 in Caracas, Venezuela to Jesus Bianco and Isabel Colmenares. Affectionately known as Jay, he was an esteemed cardiologist specializing in nuclear medicine. A graduate of Universidad Central Venezuela Medical School and served his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for cardiology and nuclear medicine. He was a medical researcher, a professor of Medicine and in private practice at the University of Wisconsin Madison. He was president of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, Central Chapter in 2000 and was proud to participate in many international medical symposiums. He was in private practice in Youngstown, OH and western Florida. He was extremely dedicated to his craft and helped advance the field of nuclear medicine. His career highlight was serving as medical coordinator of a joint effort between Siemens Corp and Tubingen University Hospital in Erlangen, Germany researching cardiac CT. The latter years of his career were spent in independent research and study and he was a frequent contributor to many medical publications. He enjoyed his retirement with his wife Sharon in Brandenton, FL playing competitive tournament poker, painting landscapes and traveling. He loved the music of Bach and the Bee Gees and was a die-hard Boston Red Sox and Ted Williams fan. Jay passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Nelson-Bianco; his children, Lorenzo Bianco, Elka Bianco, Christopher Bianco, Winston Bianco; his step-children, Laura Broll, Melissa Nelson; brothers, Drs. Eduardo, Fernando, Nicolas Bianco Colmenares; his sister Isabel Bianco Colmenares; and eight grandchildren. The family is hosting a private memorial. In memoriam you may make a donation to the American Heart Association.
