Debra Jane McBee

Debra Jane McBee, 65, left this world the morning of Saturday, March 6th, 2021, after a year and a half-long battle with metastatic lung cancer. She was the oldest daughter of Elnora Muller (neé McBee), who preceded her in death. She is survived by her partner of 27 years, Ilona Snow, her sisters Kathy Greene and Doris Call, her niece Lauren Huber-Greene, Ilona’s daughter Jeanette Rivers, her granddaughters Lynessa, Bridget and Emily, several great-grandchildren and many friends and family members who will miss her dearly. A lifelong dog lover, she is also survived by her pups Shorty and Penny. Debra was a computer & later a slot technician after being honorably discharged from the US Army following a debilitating back injury. She lived in Las Vegas, NV, for many years, although she spent considerable time in Washington state and Texas as well. She left her dream retirement home on the sunny island of St. Croix, USVI, to be close to her family in the final months of her life. She loved heat, humidity and the ocean (and thus hated Colorado), but made the choice to move to Colorado Springs for her partner Ilona’s peace of mind because that’s the kind of thoughtful, caring person that she was. In addition to her family, friends, and dogs, Debra loved her country, investing, learning about survival techniques, and God. No services will be held at Debra’s request. Debra will be cremated and her ashes will ultimately be returned to St. Croix to spend eternity sailing on the open waters of the paradise that she loved so much.
