All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
William Flowers
August 26th, 1930 - October 17th, 2018
William Joseph Flowers, 88, of Centennial, Co, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, October 17, 2018. He was born August 26, 1930 in Ingalls, KS, oldest son of Denver and Hazel (Wood) Flowers. He worked for Mountain Bell for several years and retired from AT&T. He went to college and later took college classes in Astronomy in New Mexico. He enlisted as a Reserve of the Air Force on January 15, 1950 and was Honorably Discharged April 7, 1953. He was inducted in the Army on October 2, 1953 and was stationed in Greenland as a Radio Repairman; he was Honorably Discharged on September 21, 1955. He climbed several U.S. 14ers and climbed Pico de Orizaba the highest mountain in Mexico and Popocatépetl , the second highest mountain in Mexico. He was a climbing leader for the Colorado Mountain Club. He was an Amateurs Radio Operator, he took flying lessons, enjoyed skiing, photography, building computers, astronomy, and genealogy. William is survived by his wife, Mona L. Flowers, a son William Paul Flowers, two brothers, David Flowers (Theresa), Clifford Wayne Flowers (Pat), three sisters, Luella Brown (Eddie), Bonnie Boyle, Fernette Flowers, nieces Jamie P. Kelly (Scott), Jennifer DiMarzio (David), great nieces Lindsay, Zoe, Ava Belle, great nephew Blaise and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to both of his parents, Denver and Hazel Flowers, he was preceded in death by children: Angela Jean Flowers, Michael Alan Flowers, Joseph Flowers, and sister Joyce M. Harlan. Service Information: A service for family and close friends will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery for Friday, November 9, 2018 at 2:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made donating to Porter Hospice.
