Nancy Lou Grisham
August 12th, 1940 - April 28th, 2021
Frankfort – Nancy Lou Hankins Grisham, 80, widow of Roy Lee Grisham, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Owen County on August 12, 1940 to the late Raymond and Willie Judy Hankins. She retired from Kentucky State Government in the Unemployment Insurance Department. Nancy was a member of Thornhill Baptist Church for 50 years. She was a Sunday School Teacher; Nursey Director; and attended Ruth Sunday School Class and Golden Agers. In addition, she was active in a ministry for shut-ins. Nancy was a cherished friend to many, and demonstrated her love with many acts of kindness in service to others. She loved playing cards, dominos, and bowling with special friends. She was beloved by her family and loved them fiercely. Her favorite moments included family celebrations, game nights, and reading to her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Daniel Halbert) Grisham, Frankfort, and Melinda (Tom) Baker, Frankfort; her grandchildren, Thomas (Stefanie) Baker, Kehla (Adam) Vance, Mattie (Logan) Scott, and Kendall Brown; her great grandchildren, Knox Grisham Vance, Crew Thomas Vance, Thomas Doren Baker, and Averie Ana Baker; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and close friends and others who thought of her as their second mom. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Georgia Rose, Lucy Jacobs, Syble Pierson, Fannie Whitton, Helen Bourne, Frieda Bourne, and Judy Jones; and her brother, William Howard Hankins. A private funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Clark Legacy center with Tony Elam officiating. The service will be livestreamed on Clark Legacy Center’s Facebook page. Following the funeral friends are welcome to attend the Graveside service that will be held at 11:00am at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as casketbearers will be Tom Baker, Daniel Halbert, Thomas Baker, Adam Vance, Logan Scott, and Kendall Brown. Honorary casketbearers will be Nancy’s nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope forTomorrow Children’s Home (www.hope4tomorrow.net) 1367 Glensboro Road Lawrenceburg, KY 40342 or Hospice Care of the Bluegrass.
