Claude Christian

Claude Delmar Christian, Sr, 71, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday September 4, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. A native of Hawkins County, he proudly served his country in the US Army. He worked in the Church Hill Rescue Squad for 10 years and several years for Custodis-Zotrell Inc as a steeplejack. Claude attended Freedom Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Pauline Christian; sister, Gladys Wilkerson and brother, Billy Christian. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Harriet Christian, two daughters, Lillian Qualls and husband Steve, Monica Arnold and husband Alex; two sons, Claude Christian JR and wife Tracie and Johnny Christian and wife Melissa; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Tiny Hawkins and husband Buddy, Barbara Williams and husband Jim and Cookie Stanley and husband Freddy; three brothers, James Christian and wife Sue, Jackie Christian and wife Jeanie and Tom Christian; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 till 7pm Friday at Carter- Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill. A funeral service will follow at 7pm with Rev. Andy Sensabaugh officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am Saturday in Fudge's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 245 Fudges Chapel Road, Surgoinsville . Military graveside rites will be presented by the VFW Post #9754. Pallbearers will be Gary Williams, Jordan Greene, Zachary Arnold, P.J. Hammonds, Claude Christian, Jr and Johnny Christian. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Qualls and his best friend, Ray Trent. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the family of Claude Christian, Sr.
