Carter-Trent Funeral Homes - Kingsport
Frances Lillian Robinette
April 15th, 1928 - March 9th, 2018
Gate City - Frances Thomas Robinette departed this life, at her residence, at the age of 89, on March 9, 2018, after a lengthy illness, which she valiantly fought, until the very end. She was born in Hiltons, Virginia, on April 15, 1928, and was a life-long resident of Scott County, Virginia. She was formerly employed by the predecessor to Eastman Chemical Company, after which she gave up her employment to raise her family and become a full-time homemaker. Years later, she accepted an invitation from Janette Carter to work, part-time, as a greeter, at the Carter Family Fold, in Hiltons, Virginia. She held this position, which she loved, until her declining health forced her to relinquish it. Frances was a beautiful woman, with a positive outlook on life, which served to uplift, and boost the spirits of all around her. She was a Christian, who lived her faith. She embraced life, to its fullest, and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, playing the guitar, singing, listening to music, and her trips to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, arranged by her son, Robert C. Robinette. She was also especially fond of attending events at the Carter's Fold, where she loved listening to the music, and dancing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Dicey Thomas, of Hiltons, Virginia, beloved husband, O.M. Robinette, brothers, Delaney Thomas, and Conley Thomas, sisters, Zeline Thomas, Lorraine McNutt, Phillis Snodgrass, and sister-in-law, Myrtle Jessee. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert C. Robinette (Judy) of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Charles E. Robinette (Brenda) of Gate City, Virginia, daughter, Dawn Scott, of Gate City, Virginia, grand children, Tiffany Scott (Herbert Bowen) of Kingsport, Tennessee, Chad Robinette of Gate City, Virginia, Clay Robinette (Samantha) of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Leigh Light (Frank) of Gate City, Virginia, sisters, Ruby Fowler of Paradise Valley, Arizona, and Rose Flanary of Hiltons, Virginia, and nephew, Roy M. Jessee (Cynthia) of Norton, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home, in Weber City, Virginia. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, in the Scott County Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Vickie J. Carter officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Holston View Cemetery, in Weber City, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Chad Robinette, Clay Robinette, Frank Light, Herbert Bowen, Larry Lewis, Larry Tomlinson, Chuck Crawford, and Richard Walters. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, of Weber City, Virginia is serving the Robinette family.
