Joseph Paul Hill
November 18th, 1936 - August 22nd, 2013
Joseph Paul Hill, 76, of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, August 22, 2013, after an extended illness. He was born in Scott County, Virginia, and lived most of his life in Kingsport. He was a graduate of Lynn View High School and attended ETSU. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of West View Baptist Church, Kingsport. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Joseph Loring Hill and Sally Anna Shupe Hill; and his brother, William Hill. Surviving are his loving wife, Justine C. Hill of the home; son, Joseph Stephen Hill & wife, Shelia of Clemmons, NC; daughter, Traci Paulette Begley & husband Phil of Johnson City, TN; three grandchildren, Stephanie Eklund, Blake Begley and Beau Begley; one great granddaughter, Victoria Eklund; two sisters, Janet Bradshaw of Kingsport, Mary Lois Smith of Concord, NC; two brothers, John Hill and Jimmy Hill both of Kingsport; along with several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Stout officiating. Honorary pallbearer is H. Garland Osborne. A Military inurnment service will be held at 10:45 am on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tennessee, conducted by the American Legion Post #3 & #265. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:40 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse Shoe Box Ministry C/O West View Baptist Church, 1037 Fairview Avenue, Kingsport, TN 37660. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the Hill family.
