Hazel Frances Ervin

Hazel Frances Ervin, 78 of Weber City, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Scott County, VA, Frances had lived in Weber City for most of her life. She was a member of Kaylor's Chapel Church and sang with the Lee Smith Singers for 24 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Bessie Cox Matlock. Frances is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bob Ervin of the home; son, Ricky Ervin of Weber City; sister, Patsy Winegar and husband Wayne of Clinchport; brother, Charles Matlock and wife Sue of Church Hill; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Scott County Funeral Home, 2060 Hwy 23N, Weber City, VA. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. Music will be provided by Kenneth Davis. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Winegar, Tim Gibson, Mike Peters, Mike Ervin, Bud Darnell, Kay Pierson and Bill Osborne. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wellmont Hospice and the 3rd floor of Wilcox Hall for the special care they gave to Frances.
