L.C. Osborne, 81, passed away June 19, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the CLC Nursing Home, VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN after an extended illness surrounded by loved ones. L.C. was born in Jonesville, VA on August 19, 1931. He joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Kingsport, TN in 1950 and lived here until his death. He was employed by the City of Kingsport as a Building Inspector for several years. Then L.C. went to work for MHMA as a mobile home Inspector for the government. Later he became a professional auctioneer in the 1970's. L.C. owned and operated Auction World and held auctioneer licenses in the states of Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky. He was a well-known and highly admired auctioneer in the tobacco industry, auto auctions and the real estate profession. He attended The Church of Jesus Christ where his wife, Mildred serves as Pastor. L.C. was preceded in death by his father, Elmer R. Osborne; mother, Lizzie Mae Haynes Osborne; maternal grandparents, David Wright Haynes and Callie Haynes; paternal grandparents, Silas "Doc" Osborne and Corey Pennington Osborne; son in law, Gary C. Campbell; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, whom he dearly loved, Mildred Marshall Osborne, of the home; daughters, Judy Osborne Campbell and Joy Osborne Adinolfi and husband, Tony; sons, Lester Haynes and wife, Debbie, all of Kingsport and Rick "Ozzie" Osborne and wife, Michelle of Mt. Juliet, TN; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren who called him "Poppy;" sister, Audrey Gail Evans of Pennington Gap, VA; brother, Chief Master Sargent (USAF) Retired, Herbert H. Osborne and wife, Margaret of Melbourne, Fla.; best friend, "Princess Bella;" several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends any time after 2:00 pm Friday, June 21, 2013 in the Conference Room at The Church of Jesus Christ, 3300 Bloomingdale Rd., Kingsport, TN. A formal visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm at the church with Evangelist Larry McAmis and Elder Deon Turner officiating. Music will be provided by his granddaughter, Melody Adinolfi and Jeff Pierson. An entombment service with military rites will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 23, 2013 at East Lawn Memorial Park with the American Legion Post 3/265 . Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Bradley, Elliott Kilgore, Greg Booher, Dalfus Booher, Darrell Pendegrass, Alvin Reece and Jim Kiser. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 pm to go in procession. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ, 3300 Bloomingdale Rd., Kingsport, TN 37660. The family would like to express great appreciation to all the staff at CLC Nursing Home, VA Medical Center for the excellent care and kindness to our father.
