Shirley Louise Clark
July 4th, 1937 - March 9th, 2018
Shirley Louise Collins Clark born in Big Stone Gap, VA, on July 4, 1937 and at age 80 living in Kingsport, TN, for years, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was so tired and wanted to go home to be with God and her loved ones. She had worked as a Supervisor at Sears in Kingsport for over 30 years and was the owner of Green Acres Package Store for years and also operated a laundry mat and deli in Weber City, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle R. Clark; parents, Dewey D. and Glessie Dearry Collins; infant brother, Dewey D. Collins, Jr; son, David P. Clark; daughter, Rhonda K. Clark Smith; and a special brother-in-law, Jim Johnson. She is survived by her sister, Emma Jean Collins Johnson of Blountville; brother, James C. Collins and wife, Frankie of Weber City, VA; grandson, Michael D. Clark and wife, Taylor of Mt. Carmel, TN; and very special and loved great-grandson, David A. Clark; special friend and dog, Precious; several nieces, nephews and lots of good friends. The family would like to especially thank the caregivers, nurses, doctors and Rev. Robert Ferguson for their love and support for Mrs. Clark. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in downtown Kingsport. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Robert Ferguson officiating. Entombment will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Glencoe Cemetery and Mausoleum in Big Stone Gap, VA. Those who would like to follow in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:30 am or you may meet at the cemetery at 12:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank or Sullivan County Humane Society. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.cartertrent.com.
