Sharon McClellan
February 12th, 1943 - January 25th, 2023
On the morning of January 25, 2023, Sharon McClellan of Frankfort, KY passed away after a brief illness. She was 79 years old. Mrs. McClellan was born February 12, 1943, in Perry County, KY to the late Nelson and Nancy Richie; she was one of 9 siblings. Mrs. McClellan moved to Frankfort at a young age and was employed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. After retiring from State Government, Mrs. McClellan went to college where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Kentucky State University. She then pursued her passions in education and helping others by volunteering and working at the Thornhill Education Center helping students earn their GED. Sharon McClellan will be most remembered as a loving wife, protective and supportive mother, and proud “Mimi” of her two grandsons. She was preceded in death by both parents; 4 sisters; and 3 brothers. Sharon is survived by and will be missed by her brother, Monroe (Bud) Richie; her husband of 34 years, Ben McClellan; her two sons, Zack Sackett and Joe Perkins; and her two grandsons, Tyler and Taylor Perkins. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd with Rev. Phil Case officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as casketbearers will be Monroe Richie, Jerome Richie, and Joe Perkins. Visitation will be held from 9:30am until 11:00am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of the Bluegrass.
