Charles Arthur Harlan
July 26th, 1945 - September 10th, 2017
Charles "Arthur" Harlan, 72, of Kingsport went to his heavenly home on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and Army where he served for 25 years before his retirement as a Staff Sergeant in 1996. He was a faithful member of the Central Assembly of God Church in Kingsport where he was passionate with his music and singing. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents Charlie Bickham Harlan and Susie Katherine Necessary Harlan; granddaughter Celesta Brooks; and sister Francis Harlan. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Linda Hinson Harlan; daughter Missy Harrell (Chuck) of Lancaster, SC; daughter Sherry Haynes (Mark) of Kingsport, TN; daughter Sandy Harlan (Ryan) of Knoxville, TN; daughter Leanne Benton of Kingsport, TN; son Bill W. Barker (Allie) of The US Army; son Justin Barker (Hope); daughter Tionne Harlan of the home; special daughter Amanda Barker; 17 grandchildren Anitra, Budrow, Zach, Randy, Brandon, Christin, Isabella, Wade, Xavier, Chloe, Bryant, Malachi, Judah, Carlene, Puff, Gustavia, Amichai; 4 great grandchildren Jaz, Josh, Milee, Mallory; sisters Carolyn Miller, Billie Wohlford, Sue Kleven (Dan); brothers Bobby Harlan (Joanne), David Harlan (Percy); several nieces and nephews; and loving fur companion Buster Harlan. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 6pm to 8pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Downtown Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Phil Kestner officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 3pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to follow in procession are asked to meet at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Downtown Kingsport by 2:15pm. Carter Trent Funeral Home, Downtown Kingsport is serving the Harlan Family.
