Richard Harter, 89, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 22, 1933, to the late Audra Campbell and Dale Harter. Mr. Harter had worked for the State Department of Education as a Buildings and Grounds inspector, was a veteran of the U.S Army and a long-time member of South Frankfort Presbyterian Church. Mr. Harter was an avid farmer, working with horses and cattle. Those left to cherish his memory includes his daughter, Anne Colly (John) Rose; granddaughter, Elly (Zachary) Rose Edwards; sister-in-law, Fern Harter; and many beloved nieces and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Harter. A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 5-7PM at Clark Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles Rd. Frankfort, KY. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 2PM with visitation from 1-2PM at his church, South Frankfort Presbyterian. Graveside service with military honors will be private for family at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Remembrance Trust Fund at South Frankfort Presbyterian Church or Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice of the Bluegrass).
