Barbara Jo Kays Newton
March 30th, 1948 - November 10th, 2023
Barbara Jo Kays Newton, 75, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. A native of Frankfort, Kentucky, Barbara was born March 30, 1948, to Cecil Kays and Josephine Tucker Kelly. She would find the love of her life in George A. “Butch” Newton, having 3 children together, and 54 wonderful years until his passing in April. Barbara was a natural caregiver, dedicating her life to not only her family, but to those who were no longer able to care for themselves. She spent her life working at nursing homes and caring for hospice patients. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Tabitha Newton of Frankfort and Kimberly Newton McGaughey of Lawrenceburg; her brother, John Phillips of Frankfort; and was a loving Mamaw to her grandchildren, the lights of her life, Jeremy (Winnie), Jessi (Bill), Kyle, Charlie (Christen), Emily (Chris), Kayla (Jalen), and Toni Mae; and her great grandchildren, Jayden, Penelope, Olivia, Cassidy, Jaxon, Violet, Kyran, Kasen, Karter, Kaiven, and Kavari. In addition to her loving husband, George A. “Butch” Newton and her parents, Cecil Kays and Josephine Tucker Kelly, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, George A. “Tony” Newton, Jr and her brother, Chris Kays. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to your local Alzheimer's Association or Bluegrass Care Navigators at https://www.bgcarenav.org/give.
