Michael "Mike" Paul Murphy
June 2nd, 1958 - March 12th, 2024
Michael Paul Murphy, 65, passed away on Tuesday,March 12, 2024.The son of the late Hillis P. Murphy and Emma Lee (Bonnie)Roberts Murphy, Mike was born June 2, 1958, in Frankfort,Kentucky. He was an employee of SteelBlue in Georgetown, Kentucky. A good friend and person, Mike was always trying to make people laugh through his funny story telling and his hilarious jokes, he was sure to brighten your day and put a smile on your face. He had a great love for animals and enjoyed listening to classic rock while hanging out with friends and family, shooting pool, and loved to find and collect unique items. Watching the University of Kentucky in any sport was a favorite pastime, but basketball was his favorite. A veteran of the Army, Navy, and National Guard, Mike spent over 25 years serving the country that he loved so much. His travels with the military exposed him to many cultures and languages such as German, Mandarin, and Sign Language to name a few, all of which Mike was fluent in. He truly was a unique and caring individual that will be missed by all. Mike is survived by his longtime partner of over 20 years, Sheila Couch & family of Frankfort , his children Amanda (Kevin Barnett) Pulliam of Frankfort, Andrew “Shane” (Amanda) Murphy of Lawrenceburg, Dustin Murphy of Frankfort, and Jay Paul Murphy of Florida; a sister, Patricia (Pete) Wright of Frankfort; grandchildren, Damon Pulliam, Stevie Pulliam, Kristen Pulliam, Louis Pulliam, Briana Murphy, Mackenzie Murphy, Emma Murphy, Kaelyn Murphy,Mary Murphy; a great-grandson, Hudson Fluharty; and his beloved cat of 18 years, Leon. In addition to his parents, Hillis Murphy and Emma Lee Roberts Murphy, Mike was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry Aaron, and a great granddaughter, Harper Fluharty. A memorial service will be held this Saturday March 23rd at Lawrenceburg United Pentecostal Church from 1pm-3pm in Lawrenceburg,Ky for family and friends.
