Phyllis Jean "PJ" Barr 85, of Bristol went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in Scott County, VA to the late Howard and Frances Shelton. Phyllis was a loving mother, grandmother, and was a caretaker to all who knew her. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey Shelton and Ransom Shelton; infant daughter, Deborah Jean. Survivors include her sons, Larry Barr and David Barr; daughter Terri Bowens and husband Roger; sister, Mildred Frances Robinson; grandchildren, Brandon Barr, Leslie Mullins and husband Jessie, Leah Booher and husband Adam, Chris Eaton, and Connor Barr; nine great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Scott County Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow with Pastor Layton Bentley officiating. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Barr family.
