Richard Calvin Ward
March 21st, 2001 - April 11th, 2020
Richard “Richie” Calvin Ward, 19 of Lexington, KY laid down his sword on Saturday, April 11th after a 6-year battle with brain cancer. Born in Annapolis, MD on March 21, 2001, Richie filled the world with laughter and light. Richie was a 2019 graduate of Lafayette High School where he participated in student council, teen board, football, bowling and lacrosse. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed taking part in the many missions and youth activities. His parents want to thank the wonderful staff at UK’s DanceBlue pediatric hematology/oncology clinic for the years of love and care they showed to Richie and the entire family. In addition to his parents Donald & Jennifer, he is survived by his brothers Bobby & Hunter Ward; sister Brenna Stone; great-grandparents Lennart & Virginia Peterson, George & Betty Neal; grandparents Beverly Hargrove, Doug & Nina Everman, Jack & Charlotte Carpenter, Deborah Mares; Aunts & Uncles Mark & Nancy Ward, Gary & Lori Ward, Tommy & Lisa Gibson, Charmaine Stewart, Dimitri & Nancy Molimis, Khristina Everman, Dean Tipton, Nicole & Anthony Smith, Nick & Christina Mares, Andy Mares, Holly Johnson, several cousins, bonus parents and bonus siblings. Cremation & a private scattering will be held for family only while a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at www.DanceBlue.org or www.EagleMount.org in his memory.
