John Richard Newell

JOHN NEWELL Kingsport- John Richard Newell, 73, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning (May 22, 2016) at his residence following a battle with cancer. He was born in Statesville, NC and had resided in this area most of his life. He attended Catawba College and was a graduate of ETSU. He was previously employed at Paty Lumber Company and most recently with Gutter Suppliers. He was a member of the Cherokee Rod and Gun Club. John was a longtime Scoutmaster in Bristol and also belonged to the George L. Carter Railroad Museum at ETSU. He was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church. John Newell is survived by his wife, Bobbie Warren Newell; a daughter, Melissa Ealey and husband, Tommy; a son, Mike Newell and wife, Sherri; step-sons, Chad Domby and wife, Tiffany, Chris Domby and wife Maggie; 7 grandchildren; his brother, Eugene Newell and wife, Doni; a special sister-in-law, Pat Cole along with several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday (May 24, 2016) from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the ShareLife Room at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A celebration of his life will be conducted on Tuesday (May 24, 2016) at 7 p.m. in the ShareLife Room with his friend, Larry Craddock, officiating. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Newell family.
