Mildred Odle Quillen
November 2nd, 1928 - February 15th, 2016
Mildred Irene Odle Quillen, 87, of Weber City passed away Monday (February 15th, 2016) at Indian Path Medical Center. She was born in Nickelsville and has lived most of her life in Scott County. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Nickelsville. She worked for many years at Kress and McCroys Stores. Mildred loved people and wanted everyone to have a great time. It was said, "If there wasn't a crowd, she wasn't happy." She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jenny Compton Odle; husband of 41 years, Kyle Eugene Quillen; daughter and son in law, Janet Lynn and Jackie Quillen; nephew, Jeff Wood and special pet, Babe. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Wood and husband Donald; brother, James "Pete" Odle and wife Nancy; special cousin, Larry and Ann Vicars, all of Nickelsville; brother-in-law, Fred Quillen and wife Dorothy; special sisters-in-law, Beulah Kerr, Kingsport and Monette Quillen, Yuma; several nieces and nephews; Roger Hensley, who was like a son to her and a special young man, Cameron Burns. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Thursday (February 18th, 2016) at Scott County Funeral Home. A service will follow at 8pm with Pastor Raymond Hammonds officiating. Personal words of reflection will be given by Theresa Sandefur and Patricia Atiyah. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am Friday (February 19th, 2016) at Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roger Hensley, Marty Roller, Jerry Quillen, Scott Odle, Gary McDavid, Phil Richards, Kerry Quillen and Chris Peters. Honorary Pallbearers are Arless Pease, Fred Quillen, Jack Peters, Paul Combs, Butch Bledsoe, Eugene Pendleton, Larry Vicars, Billy Odle and Paul McMurray. Those who plan to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:25 to follow in procession. Special thanks should go to Dr. Lesley Jones and Betty for the care that was given to her. She loved you all dearly. Also, thanks to all the friends and neighbors who were always there for her.
