Beatrice Auch

Beau Auch of Lakewood entered into eternal rest on April 25, 2019. She was born on February 18, 1926, in Vermillion, South Dakota to Alma (Pedersen) and George Brunick. She is preceded in death by her husband Marvin E. Auch, companion Ed Mitchell, son Dick Auch, and brothers Buford, Stanley, Orville, and Lloyd. She is survived by her son Robert L. Auch, Granddaughter Joyce Spain and Grandson Robert E.L Auch whos she raided and a sister Phyllis (Glen) Grosshuesch of Yankton, SD. Bea has 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. During her young childhood, Bea lived in many different places including a children’s home in Beresford, S.D. She was married at a young age to Jim Schneider. Just 2 years after their wedding, she gave birth to twin boys, Robert and Dick. Jim was in the military and during their marriage they lived in Albuquerque, NM (where her boys were born); Los Angeles, CA, Biloxi, MS; Salt Lake City, UT, and Correctionville, IA. When this marriage ended, Bea moved back to Yankton, SD with her boys. It was there she met Marvin Auch while working at Montgomery Wards. The two subsequently fell in love and married on Septemeber 28, 1948. In 1951, Marvin adopted the boys. Due to company policy, Bea had to leave the employment of Montgomery Wards. Over the years, she worked in several places including a portrait studio, in homes and in a grocery meat department. Marvin was in the Army National Guard when they married and was called to active duty. They were then stationed in Colorado Springs, CO. This is when they got acquainted with and fell in love with Colorado. At the age of 14, her son Dick was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and passed away on October 17, 1960, at the age of 16. After Marvin’s last duty station at Ft. Benning, GA, they moved back to Yankton. In 1962, Bea and Marvin moved to Colorado. They initially bought and lived in a mobile home. Bea continued working different jobs including in the meat department at both King Soopers and Albertson’s. In 1970 they bought their first home at 73rd and Teller in Arvada, CO. Be and Marvin took in their grandchildren Joyce and Robert to raise in about 1974. They enjoyed sightseeing and the mountains of Colorado immensely. On days off and most weekends, you could find the family somewhere in the mountains or traveling. She also occupied her time crafting. She was a talented artist, seamstress, and gardener. Bea and Marvin were active members of Berkeley Community Church of Christ. Bea never really knew her father, but from what she was told he was a talented singer. Beal also loved to sing and was a member of the church choir. She was one of the “Church Ladies” and helped with receptions and after service coffee and cookies. She was also very active in Neighborhood Club. After the grandkids moved back with their mother and step-dad, Bea and Marvin could be found spending about 3 months of the year down in Benson, AZ with Bea’s sister Phyllis, and brother-in-law, Glenn. Bea enjoyed traveling around the country visiting new places and family with Marvin after his retirement of 40 years from Montgomery Wards. While attending Berkeley Community Church, Bea and Marvin became very good friends with Helen and Ed Mitchell. After both men retired, they began working together doing odd jobs and home renovations for the elderly until Marvin’s passing in 1998. After Marvin’s passing, Ed and Helen would continue to include Bea in most all of their activities. After Helen’s death in 2004, Ed and Bea became a steady presence for each other over the next year. Bea could always count on Ed to help her with her vehicle or with things around the home her and Marvin had shared for more than 30 years. During this time they became very fond of each other, and with both families blessings became steadfast companions a few years later. Ed and Bea lived as companions in Ed’s home until 2016. They moved to Lakewood Reserve Assisted Living where Bea lived until her passing.
