Walter Gene Traugott

Walter Gene Traugott VERSAILLES- Walter Gene Traugott, 81, husband of Sarah Evelyn Disponette Traugott, died Monday, July 29, 2013. A native of Woodford County, he was the son of the late Foree and Kathleen Parker Traugott, born on October 25, 1931. Mr. Traugott was a retired farmer and an employee of South Woodford Water Company and a previous board member of A.S.C. and was a Kentucky Colonel. He became a devoted Christian at an early age, having served as a Song Leader and Sunday School Superintendent for 25 years at Mt. Edwin Methodist Church. He sang in a quartet, a duet and sang solo. Mr. Traugott was also a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter. Ruby (Bill) Arnold, Woodford County; his son, Larry (Diane) Traugott, Woodford County; his step children, Milton (Angie) Travis, GA, and Martha (Rick) Sandlin, TN; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Arnold, Jeremy Arnold and Reva Traugott; 6 step grandchildren, Joshua Travis, Jacob Travis, Sarah Homley, Micah Sandlin, David Sandlin and Crystal Vaught Constant; a brother, Marshall (Donna) Traugott, Versailles; 2 great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Turner Traugott, the mother of Ruby and Larry. Funeral Information Graveside service will be 11am Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Versailles Cemetery. Dr. Damon Jones and Dr. Emery Emmert will officiate. Serving as casketbearers will be Jeremy Arnold, Michael Traugott, Brian Traugott, Micah Sandlin, David Sandlin, Jacob Travis and Joshua Travis. Honorary casketbearers will be Ralph Livingston, John James, Carl Whalen, Jr. and Vodis Thompson. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 5pm until 7pm at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill.
