Lisha Michelle Machen
September 14th, 1969 - June 14th, 2018
Lisha Michelle Machen Greeneville, SC – Lisha Michelle Machen, age 48 went to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, June 14, 2018 peacefully at her home after a good fight battling breast cancer. Lisha was born on September 14, 1969 in Johnson City, TN. Lisha graduated from Science Hill High School in 1987 and continued her education at East Tennessee State University graduating with an Associate of Applied Science degree in 1992. She was an active member of the Church of God in Christ from a young girl while being raised by her late maternal grandparents, James and Essie Mock until she moved to Knoxville, TN and then Greeneville, SC for employment. Even though Lisha was independent and unconventional her personality and sense of humor caused people to want to know more about her. Wherever she went she would find an opportunity to express her love for Christ and share the story of her faith and trust while teaching others about the awareness of breast cancer. In addition to her maternal grandparents, she was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Linda Mock Machen; paternal grandparents, Rev. David and Ola Mae Machen. She is survived by her sister, Sherry Thomas and her nephew Justin Young; an uncle, James N. Mock, Jr. Lisha was loved by many additional uncles, aunts, cousins and friends; her aunt, Marva, her uncle Allen Conley, her uncle Matthew and aunt Jackie Machen and aunt Ida and uncle Rick Zimmerman were blessed to help and support her through this battle. The family would like to thank her oncologist, Dr. Joe Stephenson, Jr. for not only giving Lisha the best medical care possible but loving on her when we couldn’t be present. He cared for her like she was his family and his family; “Pops and Ms. Nancy” checked on her and made sure her needs were met. We would also like to thank Homestead Hospice for the exceptional care they provided and how they went above and beyond just to make sure Lisha felt loved. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on June 18, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church, 522 Main Street, Johnson City, TN or friends may also call anytime at the residence of Marva Conley. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m. with a interment at West Lawn Cemetery in Johnson City. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.cartertrent.com. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Machen family.
