DONNA K. DENTON Kingsport- Donna Kay Mallory Denton, 59, of Kingsport went to be with Jesus on Monday night (February 11, 2019) at Ridgecrest Manor in Duffield, VA following an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport who loved to sing and be around people. When she sang, she truly touched everyone’s heart. Donna was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Maxwell Mallory. Donna Denton is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Cornell and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Austin Cornell, Alyssa Cornell, and Luke Cornell; her mother, Charlotte Mallory; her siblings, Darlene Lowe and husband, Howard, Marlene Bright, Allen Mallory and wife, Judy, Mark Mallory, her twin sister and caregiver, Debbie Sturgill and husband, Jerry, Linda Combs, Samuel Mallory, Becky White and husband, Mark along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday (February 15, 2019) from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence of the sister, Debbie Sturgill. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday (February 15, 2019) at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Will Shewey and Pastor Andy Sensabaugh, officiating. A graveside service will follow the funeral service at Elm Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery with Jerry Sturgill, Brandon Richards, Waylon Sturgill, Mark White, Allen Mallory, Debbie Sturgill, and Becky White serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Cody White. A special thank you goes out to the staff at Ridgecrest Manor in Duffield, the Carter Fold Unit, her special nurses, Shaun and Marcia along with Caris Hospice for the special care given to Donna during her sickness. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Denton family.
