Martin "Marty" Junior McMurray

Martin Junior McMurray, age 55, of Blountville, went home to be with the Lord, peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 20, 2019. He was saved at an early age and was a life-long member of Gardner’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Bristol, VA. He was a musician and enjoyed playing his Martin D-28 guitar. He was a woodworker and made things with his hands. Most of all he cherished his mother, daughter and grandchildren. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Walker Junior McMurray. He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Taylor and husband, Matthew; 3 grandchildren, Gavin Person, Conner and Sara Taylor; mother, Lou McMurray; 2 sisters, Janet Burk and Kathy Stewart; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Gardner’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Bristol, VA. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm with Elder Josh Johnson and Rev. Rex McMurray officiating. Interment will follow in the McMurray Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses. Carter-Trent Funeral Home in downtown Kingsport is proudly serving the McMurray family.
