Frankfort, KY Norma Toy Shafter, 90, widow of Charles E. Shafter, passed away July 12, 2015. She was born on July 7, 1925 in Winchester, KY to the late Elzie D. Toy and Belle Edward Cooke Toy. Norma was very strong in her faith. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she had completed her mission. Norma graduated in 1970 from Appalachian Nursing School, and worked in various hospitals around Lexington. She was caring, compassionate, and a loving mother. As well as an accomplished seamstress who did beautiful needlework. She is survived by her daughters Wilma W. Morris; Cara McLaughlin; her sons Lafe Wade; David J. Wade; William Wade; her sisters Julia Sparks; Catherine Mathews; Cynthia Kiser; her brother Elzie Toy; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. In addition to her loving husband and parents, Norma is preceded in death by her daughter Lynne Perry Wade. Funeral Information Services will be held at a later date in Utah.
