Billy Ray McCrary

Billy Ray McCrary 70, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 15, 2019 at St. Thomas West in Nashville, TN. He was born in Kingsport, TN to the late Thomas and Bonnie McCrary. Billy was a graduate of Ketron High School in the class of 1967. After graduation he went on to receive his degree in ministry from Bible Baptist College in 1972. Billy was a devoted member of Bible Way Baptist Church. Over the years his ministry included, children’s ministry, church bus ministry, bible study, and sharing the gospel with everyone he met. He was retired from Wellmont Health System after 25 years of service. His hobbies included coaching girls softball, fishing, drawing and painting, traveling, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Billy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sharon Gail. Survivors include his loving wife, Bethany McCrary; sons, Rusty McCrary and wife Beckie, Mark McCrary and wife Sonya; granddaughter, Lacey Wolfe and husband Anthony; grandsons, Elijah and Chandler McCrary; great-grandson, Franklin Wolfe; brothers, Jerry McCrary, Scott McCrary and wife Jonnie; nephews, Ryan and Andrew McCrary; sister-in-law, Mae Lynn Workley and husband Jim; special friends, Larry and Belvia Dunn, Gordon Turner, Ted and Toni Farris; along with a host of friends and extended family. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm at Bible Way Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow with Pastor Layton Bentley and Pastor Rick Vanoy officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bible Way Baptist Church Missions at 570 Packing House Rd. Kingsport, TN 37660 or the Bancroft Bible Camp at 141 Bancroft Private Dr. Kingsport, TN 37660. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Thomas West Cardiac ICU nursing staff and doctors for their loving care. Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown, Kingsport is serving the McCrary family.
