Mauddean Childress peacefully met her precious Savior on Wednesday January 29th surrounded by family at her home in Preston Place Suites. During her 93 years, she embodied Proverbs 31, the virtuous woman. Many know Mauddean by her years of service to her church and community and by giving unselfishly to others. She was a valued member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she participated in the choir, served on various committees, and was a proud member of the Friendship Bible Class. It brings joy to the family to know that she is reunited with her best friend, Jack, and husband for over 64 years. Their marriage was anchored in serving their Lord and Savior, and we rejoice in knowing they are now dancing together forever. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents Ed & Gracie Bright, three sisters Margie & Sue Bright, and Estelle Ragsdale, brothers Grover & Carlos Bright, and great-granddaughter Delilah Watts. Survived by two children, Wade Childress with wife Lisa and Vickie McCall with husband Mack. Mauddean was the proud grandmother to four grandchildren, Holly Rinehart and husband Dallas, Heather Watts and husband Jeff, Justin and Kristen McCall of Franklin TN, and Sarah and Eric Cannady of Raleigh NC, and nine great grandchildren: Katherine and Molly Rinehart, Ari and Ellie Faith Watts, Jacob Steele, Maggie Lou and Jack McCall, Liam and Langston Cannady. Also surviving are two sisters, Mabel Bright, Pat and Clarence Hurley, sister in law Mary Ann Bright and Bernice McPherson and Ruth Carter; along with many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved. In her last months she embraced her family and friends of Preston Place Suites, where she enjoyed every aspect of daily life and fellowship. The family wants to extend a special thank you to the loving caregivers of Preston Place and Amedisys Hospice team. The family will receive friends from 4pm to 6pm on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Bloomingdale Baptist Church. A celebration of Life Service will follow with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. A private graveside service will be conducted at East Lawn Memorial Park with the Deacons serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send gifts or donations to the General Fund of Bloomindale Baptist Church, 3220 Bloomindale Pike Kingsport TN 37660 To express a condolence to the family please visit our website at www.cartertrent.com.
