He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Lueferrell Smith, three sons, Philip Bridges, Nashville, TN, Mark {Kim} Bridges, Georgetown, KY, Kent {Lana} Bridges, Nicholasville, KY, and granddaughters, Amy Bridges, Emily {Bryan} Seagraves. Their daughter, Lisa {Walter} Clare preceded him in death. Born in Akron, OH, Russell grew up in Knoxville, TN, graduating from Bearden High School. He graduated from Cumberland Junior College and Carson-Newman College, later earning an M. Div. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Russell served as Director of Development at Cumberland College, KY, Anderson College, SC, Georgetown College, KY, Bluefield College, VA, and Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy, TN. After retirement, he and Dorothy volunteered at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Ruschlikon, Switzerland, and traveled extensively with family and friends. Funeral Information The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 4-6PM at The Crossing at Hager Place Clubhouse, Nicholasville, KY.
